Tips for shaving your legs

It is no secret that shaving generally can be a chore that many of us would rather not have to carry out, particularly myself, who has hair that grows at the speed of light, and this paired with sensitive skin, makes shaving for me painful and at times a waste of an effort.

I have put together some tips and tricks that I have stumbled across over the years that help with sensitive skin, avoiding rashes and ensuring that you are actually shaving properly.

Always use a clean razor:
It is no good using a blunt or an old razor, you will not be getting the same effects as you would with a clean, fresh razor. Change the blade at the first sign of it starting to look worse for wear.

Exfoliate
Preferably the day before you shave. Using a gentle scrub will help to remove ingrown hairs that can cause itching and get them ready to face the blade by making them raise up and easier to shave. Exfoliation is also good for removing dead skin cells, and by doing this a day before you shave you are giving your skin a chance to recover.

Shave at the end:
By the end of your shower your skin is warm enough and the hairs softer, your pores will be open which gives a closer and easier shave.

Use a foam or a gel:
This gives a more gentle experience, that creates a foam preventing rashes, soap can dry out the skin, so a cream product or even a conditioner gives moisture to the skin with offers a softer and smoother shave. Try to skip the temptation to shave dry to save time, you will avoid cuts when the blade can glide over your skin.

Shave against the grain:
Usually, shaving upwards towards your chest is the best direction to shave your legs. This offers the best results and can prevent ingrown hairs and irritation. However going against the grain and shaving upwards can cause cuts if you are not gentle.

Moisturise:
Moisturising your legs with an overly alcohol based or perfumed product can cause irritation and so it is best to use a plain moisturiser. Moisturising prevent dryness.

Gemporia Jewellery

One of my favourite pieces of jewellery to wear are rings, and whilst growing up I bought my fair share of fashion rings, that would tend to leave a funny colour behind on your skin if worn too much, or the ring itself would go a funny colour. Not unexpected as these were not of a high quality, and pretty inexpensive rings. As I have been getting older I have really enjoyed collecting, receiving and purchasing jewellery of a high quality and through my time blogging I have been lucky enough to receive some lovely rings to review.

Gemporia has the ultimate website, absolutely packed with tons of jewellery, information and help, for you to find the perfect piece that you are looking for. There is so much to choose from, I spent a good hour on the website, browsing and ogling over so many beautiful pieces of jewellery. I finally picked out two gorgeous rings, and then went ahead to find the correct size for my fingers using their very helpful ring sizer app!

Their app is designed to enable you to find the correct ring size for you, so when your ring arrives it is the perfect size. You simply hold up a ring you already own to the screen and by using the arrows or sliders to adjust the circle on the screen you can line it up to the edge of your ring to find the perfect size. Once this is complete, you are able to make your purchase with complete confidence, which I loved when it came to choosing my rings. I only wish this
was an option for every website that sells rings!

Gemporia has a great motive; 'We favour authenticity over imitation, limited runs over mass production and high quality over fast fashion' and this is quite clear from browsing their site. The two rings I chose were the Naarangee Garnet Sterling Silver ring and the Espirito Santo Aquamarine Sterling Silver ring, and I adore both. They fit perfectly thanks to their app, and I will definitely be ordering from them in the future for high quality and gorgeous jewellery.

My Acrylic Storage

I love displaying my make up, and I regularly switch up what I have on my dressing table, but I am currently really happy with my display and the make up on show in my Muji drawers. It is a mix up of some of the products I use on a daily basis, as well as all my favourite liquid lipsticks.

Acrylic drawers are a great way to store your make up, and I think they look really good when filled with your favourite products. I also display my favourite lipsticks on top of the drawers in a plastic display unit from Amazon. I love stacking the storage to leave space on my dressing table to make a mess of a morning and I prefer to keep what I display to a minimum.

My drawers are the wide two drawers acrylic box available here, but Amazon and Ebay as well as homeware stores and even Primark now sell storage suitable for displaying your make up.

August Faves

I haven't really been trying too many new and different products as of late, but there are a small number of items that I have been reaching for constantly throughout August, and here are my thoughts on them:

Sunglass - Primark As soon as I saw these I picked them up and knew I wanted them before I even tried them on to see if they suited me. They are a dupe for the 'Dior So Real' sunglasses, and instead of having to pay out £200, these are a bargain, costing only a couple of quid! (I'm sorry, I cannot remember the exact price but they were around the £2.50 / £3 mark). I don't think they are the most perfectly suited sunglasses for my face, but I still wore them at every chance I got throughout the warm, sunny days, and I am sure I will continue to wear them during the rare, sunny days in the upcoming Autumn and Winter months.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick 'Mannequin' A full review and post is dedicated to this product on my blog here, so I won't go into too much detail, but I have been using this non stop this past month, as it is long wearing, non drying, and a warm nude colour that I enjoyed wearing with bright and bold outfits.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Blending Brush I have to be honest, this is a dupe, not the real product. I have not tried the Anastasia version, but found this on Aliexpress, and having experienced good and bad products from the website, as it is usually hit or miss, I was not expecting much. However, is is lovely. It blends the product really well, it is dense and helps to create a flawless finish. The handle if flexible so you can bend it to reach every contour and I have found that it is compatible with a number of different products.

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess This is summer in a bottle for me. It reminds me of really sweet suncream and coconuts from the beach. It is long lasting, fresh and I always get compliments whenever I wear this. The bottle and packaging is luxurious yet simple, and as a perfume lover and addict, I have only found myself reaching for this throughout the last few weeks.

What have you been loving throughout the month of August?
